Welcome to My Playground!

Home: Welcome

Hi, it's me, Huy Vu! And this is my playground where I explore ideas and express them in different mediums, mainly dancing, drawing, and augmented-virtual reality. Do all of these mediums sound quite random? Probably. But I guess they unite in a way that they all relate to imagination and visual aesthetic, which is what I like to create when I have free time. Anyway, check out my works! I hope you'll like it! Some of them are pretty good, some are quite not, but at least they're fun to make!

Dancing

the beauty of body movements

About 8 years ago when I first caught the show American Best Dance Crew season 1 on TV, for some reason, I just right away felt in love with it. I watched the same season 3 times again and again. It's funny because before that, I was pretty much a nerd who spent most time in school works and didn't have much fun. But what do you know, here I am, still enjoying dancing until this day!

Drawing

sketch out your wild imagination

I have always been enjoying drawing since I was a kid. I first started sketching Japanese manga. It's fun taking those characters and create your own lines of stories. Growing up, I learn more about concept art design - the process of creating the visual aspects, such as figures, shapes, colors of characters and scenes in movies or games. The more I learn about the process the more I find it fascinating. And so, I just keep learning little by little, trying some of what I have learned here and there. And although I'm just an amateur, I still really enjoy it!

Augmented and Virtual Reality

now bring your imagination to real life!

Drawing, putting your ideas onto papers is fun for sure. But how about actually perceiving them with your own senses, or seeing them digitally existing around you. Yup, we can do that with AR/VR/XR - the technologies lying at the intersection of computer science and 3D art design. I do hope I can work more in this field. I believe it will be big, and more importantly, I think I can be really good at it.

AR - Portal to the Future World

AR - Portal to the Future World

A collaboration project with an animator, who is also my best buddy. Sci-fi has always been my favorite theme. Click to see the demo video link.

VR - Space Exploration

VR - Space Exploration

Why still stay on Earth? You're in VR! Go exploring the space out there! A small gameplay created by me to experience space adventuring in a fun way. Click to see the demo video link.

AR - Space Station Setup

AR - Space Station Setup

Building your own space station in your own room. A fun project created with Unity and Vuforia framework. Click to see the demo video link.

Kinect for Physical Therapy Rehabilitation

Kinect for Physical Therapy Rehabilitation

This is my bachelor thesis in which I built a system for leading and helping patients in physical therapy practicing. The system first records the gold-standard practices from professional therapist. The practices from patients are also recorded and then compared against the gold-standards by the therapists. The interface then gives feedback to the patients whether they execute the moves correctly or not, and how correct they are. The pipeline also takes advantage of AR technology to lead and give feedback to the users in realtime. Click to see the link to my thesis.

AR/VR/XR Sharing Session

AR/VR/XR Sharing Session

A small session where I share some of my knowledge to introduce about this AR/VR/XR field which I really love. In the video I talked about the technologies' foundations, working mechanisms, applications, industry scenario and the field's future path. I tried my best to make sure everything presented is correct and more importantly, inspiring. Hopefully, they will be helpful for some! Please click to see the sharing video link.

“Hmm, I supposed to put an inspiring quote from a famous person here. But inspiration coming from many people, including peers around me. It's hard to choose just one. So for now, this is probably okay. ”
